Hoover Steam Mop FAQ
A steam mop is a tool mop that cleans floors and carpets using steam. It helps get rid of dust and dirt and doesn’t require the usage of cleaner or detergent. Unlike regular mops, the steam mops don’t leave any residue on the surface.
Some steam mops go with a set of special nozzles (like the Hoover steam mop, for example). Each of them is used for a specific surface: parquet, laminate, ceramic tiles, marble, linoleum, different kinds of carpets, etc.
The steam mops go in a variety of different sizes and styles but all of them have the same working principle. A steam mop heats up the water inside the tank to the temperature of nearly 248° Fahrenheit, dampening the microfibre pad attached to the mop’s head (some models may come with scented microfiber pads). Such an intense temperature allows killing almost all bacteria, microbes, and dust mites.
It has a triangle base that can be rotated to 360°, so it’s easy to clean in hard-to-reach places. It’s also equipped with a handle which, depending on the model, can be height-adjustable or not. The steam mop can have from 1 to 15 jets of dry steam.
Some models go with two-sided cleaning head for two different cleaning approaches. The one side with a soft pad is designed for the usual floor cleaning and the other is more abrasive, designed to clean up the especially dirty areas.
1. Sweep or vacuum the floor before you start using a steam mop or use the brush nozzle if you have one.
2. Pour water into the water tank, press the power button, and wait until steam starts to generate. Then proceed to clean.
3. Slowly drive the device over the surface to clean it. If you need to disinfect it, keep the device on the surface for no less than 15 seconds. If the water runs out, turn the device off and unplug the device. Wait for it to cool down and fill the tank again. However, some modern models have a tank that can be filled with water during cleaning without the need to turn the device off.
4. After cleaning is finished, drain the remaining water. Always rinse and dry the device at room temperature. Then assemble the device back.
